6 originals written by Michael Goering, and 5 traditional.  Michael plays the 5 string banjo, Tom Cunningham is on fiddle and mandolin, and Pat Hynes plays guitar, mandolin, bass and even slide guitar on “Lick Skillet Wynde.”  The CD alternates from original to traditional, keeping with the bluegrass roots of Michael’s music, and incorporating jazz and classic rock in many songs.

MAPLE VALLEY BLUEGRASS $12

Mike's Debut CD
MAPLE VALLEY BLUEGRASS

This music was written in spurts from 1978 - 2004. The fact that this music was recorded is something of a miracle, but the result was worth the hours of hard work required. The CD contains all original songs, instrumentals, with a wide range of feeling, chord patterns, drive and complexity. I wanted to record these personal songs as an heirloom for my family; many others have enjoyed listening also. Great for waking up in the morning, drive time, or if your life needs a little zip.

SUGARBUSH SILVER & GOLD
This 15 song CD has 8 original and 7 of my favorite traditional instrumental songs. The total play time is over one hour. I played a Stelling Suflower banjo on all the songs. This is our normal trio, myself on the banjo, Pat on bass and mandolin and Tom on the fiddle and mandolin.
The CD moves from the expected to the eccentric. Starting off with my favorite traditional instrumental, Cripple Creek, the music goes into overdrive on Sugarbush Breakdown. Then it gets a little jazzy with Autumn Birds and Indiana Frosty Morning, and ends with a bang with Garrison Hollow Hoedown and Eccentric Intervals.

OUR FAVORITE PANCAKE RECIPE

A delicious breakfast - good for you too!!!

1 cup whole wheat pastry flour (or use 1/2 whole wheat and 1/2 white)
2 tablespoons wheat germ
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk (start with 3/4 cup and add milk to desired consistency)
1 Tablespoon pure maple sryup
1 egg
1 tablespoon oil

Mix dry ingredients.  Add milk, syrup, egg and oil, and mix just to moisten.  Pour batter onto preheated, lightly oiled griddle or skillet (we prefer an electric skillet for consistent results), using about 1/4 cup batter per pancake.  When bubbles appear, turn and brown other side.  Top with strawberries and chopped walnuts, or fruit of your choice, and cover with pure maple syrup.  Enjoy!!!!
